Chapter 15:
"We finally made it to Florida!!" both girls said out loud. After a quick discussion about where to eat and when the next rest stop would be, the car settled into a comfortable silence. Winter was making little noises as if she were a dog trying to catch a rabbit in a dream, Sam was trying not to worry about every car on the road behind them, and Christina was lost in her own thoughts. She looked up to the sky and watched as a bald eagle flew lazily ahead of them. She smiled as she watched its tremendous wings flapping once in a while as it seemed to follow their car. She had actually spotted the eagle back in Georgia and although she had no frame of reference, whenever she saw this majestic creature in the sky, she felt a little lighter. She silently thanked it for sticking with them as long as it had and with that thought, she laid her head on the headrest, let out the breath she had been holding, closed her heavy lids and fell right to sleep.
